William Hendricson

William HendricsonWilliam Hendricson, Assistant Dean in the School of Dentistry, has been a consultant in health professions education for 38 years and a faculty member in Colleges of Pharmacy, Medicine, Health Professions, Education and Dentistry in three universities. He is the former Chair of the Educational Research and Development Division at UT Health Science Center San Antonio where he directed the Teaching Excellence Course for 10 years. Bill is now the Assistant Dean, Educational and Faculty Development for the School of Dentistry, and directs the Teaching Honors Program for the school. Bill was Associate Editor of the Journal of Dental Education from 2000 to 2009 and was a member of the ADEA Commission on Change and Innovation (CCI) from 2004 - 2010. He is a Senior Consultant for the Academy of Academic Leadership (AAL), a higher education consulting firm that provides institutional development, strategic planning and faculty development.  At AAL, he directs the Institute for Teaching and Learning and the Dental Faculty Development Program (DFDP) that provide training in academic leadership, scholarship and teaching skills for 100 health professions faculty annually.  From 1996-2005, he was principle instructor in a grantsmanship and research fellowship conducted by the American Academy of Family Practice. He has been a consultant to 170 universities and professional associations including 58 dental schools, and has published 109 articles, chapters and monographs.  In 2009, he was awarded the Presidential Citation in Dental Education by the American Dental Education Association.
